Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan vs Suriya’s Kanguva vs Alia Bhatt’s Jigra
The Dussehra weekend is set to witness a thrilling clash at the box office, as three highly anticipated films – Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan, Suriya’s Kanguva, and Alia Bhatt’s Jigra – gear up for release on October 10 and 11.
Vettaiyan: Rajinikanth’s 170th Film
Lyca Productions has confirmed that TJ Gnanavel’s cop drama Vettaiyan, starring Rajinikanth, will hit cinemas worldwide on October 10. The film boasts an ensemble cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Ritika Singh, Manju Warrier, and Dushara Vijayan. Anirudh Ravichander serves as the music composer for the film, which marks Rajinikanth’s 170th project.
Clash with Kanguva
Vettaiyan will face stiff competition from Siva’s action fantasy Kanguva, headlined by Suriya and Bobby Deol. Produced by Studio Green, Kanguva features a storyline set 1,500 years in the past and boasts a star-studded cast, including Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley, Kovai Sarala, and Ananda. The film’s trailer promises an epic confrontation between Suriya and Bobby’s characters.
Pan-India Release
While Vettaiyan and Kanguva will primarily compete for screens in the Tamil market, they’ll face another challenger in the pan-India market. Vasan Bala’s Bollywood escape drama Jigra, starring Alia Bhatt, will release on October 11, backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.
Star-Studded Casts
All three films boast impressive casts. Vettaiyan reunites Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan 33 years after their 1991 Bollywood film, Hum. Kanguva marks Bobby Deol’s Tamil debut, while Jigra features Alia Bhatt in a lead role.
